: Winter solstice

: childhood summers - and a birthday boy!

Yesterday was one of those precious sunny summer days that we want to cling on to once they arrive and we dream of when they seem far away . We celebrated my nephew turning 3, with a lovely garden party in the shade of a huge cherry tree.

The kids had their own little table; adorable!

I love seeing my daughter and niece and nephew play and enjoy themselves, running around the garden barefoot, playing with the water hose, getting stains on their clothes -- simply and freely being children, with all that entails!

:: Sweet summer bliss

This weekend has been a much needed - and oh so appreciated - break from all the stresses and challenges of our everyday life. It was Whit Sunday and Monday here in Norway, so we've had four days off work (and kindergarten). I have thoroughly enjoyed every part of it - even the days of extreme rain. We all cuddled up indoors and enjoyed just being together, listening to music and drinking in the peaceful and philosophical air such weather seems to inspire. At least it does in my case.I always feel unusually poetic and inspired when it rains, in manner of some advanced Yoga pupil doing any pose with the greatest of ease, or a Jane Austen character or such. Obviously, both images are ridiculously far from the truth, but I allow myself to enjoy the rare inner sensation of being at peace with myself and the Universe this state of mind makes possible.

But then the sun broke through yesterday, and gone was the need for rainy day reflections. So the rest of this break was spent mostly in the beautiful Frogner park. It was such a great joy to me, just appreciating being a part of this little family of ours, and spending some longed-for quality time together

::rainy day images

It is raining cats and dogs outside, so my beautiful little girl and I have nested up indoors. the livingroom is warm and cozy, the falling rain adding an evocative soundtrack to our thoughts and conversation.

::Springtime's here! At last!

Following a long, cold winter, it feels unbelievably wonderful to be able to finally
WELCOME SPRING with open arms and just breathe in the promise of pure bliss that it conveys!

This Sunday I took Baby Love to the park to celebrate the GORGEOUSNESS of it all, and she fully appreciated its value!

Afterwards we hooked up with Papa Love at the local coffee shop and just enjoyed the sunny atmosphere and togetherness

Here's wishing you all many sunny days to come! Celebrate them with the ones you love!

Lavendelkvister fra dåpen til Lilia står fortsatt i vinduskarmen og minner om sommer. Fransk sommer!
